Peter Gelf is a painter.
His work explores character; in the human figure, in the interplay between figures; between figure and context. He is interested in complexity, how we communicate, and in the relationship between the picture and the depicted. He looks to show rather explain; to explore and celebrate extraordinary everyday truths; to let the paint speak for itself.
Gelf has been a furniture remover, charity director, consultant, musician, parent and barn builder. He has degrees in philosophy, management, systems thinking, coaching and Fine Art, and an OBE for services to the community.
He lives and works in Wales and Shropshire.
